Creating Your Project Key

TB Start has an encrypted key (CBTFileKey) that is associated with the ToolBook application that you want to launch (CBTFileName). The purpose of this key is to prevent your customers from changing the graphics and config.ini settings and reusing TB Start for their own applications.

To create your key, you launch the editor1.exe program that comes with TB Start. Note that this file is not to be redistributed with your application. You will see this screen.

The field will default to the current value of the CBTFileName. You can edit as needed and then click the "Save Key" button. This will write both the CBTFileName and CBTFileKey settings. Note that a .exe or other extension is acceptable.

If your config.ini has an incorrect key, you will see this error message upon startup.
