New features of version 9:

Fully 32-bit: ToolBook has been completely re-engineered
to be completely 32-bit. This increases stability, eases installation, and
noticeably improves performance in many areas. Assistant 9 works great in
Vista™ as well.

SmartPages™ and SmartStyles™: These great new features make
it even easier for authors and Subject Matter Experts to develop a course and
ensure that all courses meet the same instructional design goals. SmartPages
provide over over a dozen interactive page types for you to choose from. SmartStyles
offer the flexibility to quickly change the entire look and feel of a course
with the click of a mouse. Both are based on CSS and XML and can be customized
to meet your specific project needs.

Book Explorer: The new Book Explorer
gives you more information and better control when working with your content.
The Explorer provides fast and easy access to all pages, objects, and
backgrounds for ordering, layering, and setting other properties.

Enhanced Assessments: ToolBook’s strong assessment
support has been further expanded. With this release, you can now easily see
the total number of questions - and their types - in a course. Question
randomization can easily be turned on or off and the number of randomization
questions can be quickly adjusted. The enhanced Quiz Summary feature provides
useful statistics on the quiz and allows the author to generate a text file
that contains details for each question.

Assistant compared to Instructor
Assistant's functionality is a subset of of Instructor's. In other words,
Instructor has everything Assistant has and then more. While Assistant is
easy to learn and quite powerful, we usually recommend organizations have at
least one developer use Instructor in order to take advantage of features like
the Action's Editor, Simulations, and OpenScript.
